My Own Backyard

"If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with."~Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz, 1939

About Me

Casey
I'm a small-town Kansas transplant, plopped down in a suburb of the second largest city in the United States. My super power is making a short story long. Sarcasm is my native language, but I can converse in English as well when necessary. I'm a veteran home school mom and an elementary teacher by trade. For six years I got to combine the best of both of those worlds by working for a virtual school. Now I'm back in a brick and mortar building and loving every exhausting and exhilarating minute of it. Better Half and I are parents to four amazing humans. One lives in the house with us, two do the college thing, and one its a bona-fide adult who pays her own bills and has a 401K and stuff. My favorite things in the world are a good book, a fabulous thrift store find, a solitary four-mile run, and the look in a child's eye when he realizes that c-a-t reads 'cat.' Everyone likes me better when I consume coffee first thing in the morning. I fiercely love my faith, my family, my friends, and the Oxford comma.
